Heaven & Earth Classes Uchideshi Program (live in students) Please visit our weekly schedule page for a complete listing of times and dates currently being offered by Heaven & Earth - Aikido The General Aikido class is for people wanting a serious Martial Arts Training program. We follow the standard Heaven & Earth Curriculum and focus on the Martial side of Aikido. Basic Aikido elements are taught in a happy and energetic manner. In these classes students learn how to perform practical throwing techniques from more intensive and serious attacks. Multiple attackers and controlling the attacker after a throw are emphasized. Participants are expected to develop their ukemi skills (falling) in order to protect themselves when being thrown. The basic Aikido weapons program is also taught in the General Aikido classes. New students should not be afraid of this class as we make sure that each participant does not go beyond their physical ability. Do however expect to get a good physical workout. We recommend that in order to make progress with your Aikido you do your best to attend this class 2-3 times per week.
Designed for grade school and Junior High School youth. Aiki kids introduces kids to the Martial Arts world in a safe and non-violent manner. The emphasize of this class is on exercise, non-violence and Aikido basics. The children learn how to fall and roll safely in a fun environment. The Aiki Kids class is also designed to teach kids important Aikido principles such as non-violent and gentle solutions to conflict. One of the primary goals of the Aiki Kids class is to assist kids in growing up to be secure in themselves and responsible. Aki Kids also learn the Boken (wooden sword), Jo (short staff) and a little Kendo. Most kids love this part of the class and look forward to it each week.
