Heaven & Earth - Aikido More than just a training center, Heaven & Earth is a community of like minded individuals traveling the path of self discovery through martial arts training. Heaven & Earth combines the fluidity and movement of Aikikai style Aikido with the intensity of Aiki Jujutsu and the internal power of Chi Gong. At Heaven & Earth we treat Aikido as a serious martial art while still maintaining the spirit of harmony and peacefulness taught by the founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba. Training sessions are multi-lingual with instructor using both English and Chinese during class.
The main Heaven & Earth Aikido training complex is located on Taipei, Taiwan’s, “Five Finger Mountain”, which is about 10 minutes into the mountain from Nei Hu’s, Da Hu Park. Our training facility is situated away from the noise and pollution of the city. It is an excellent environment for training in the Martial Arts. The fresh air, natural landscape and scenic view create an enjoyable and relaxing training atmosphere for everyone.
Michael Ricca and Heaven & Earth Aikido are of the “Aikikai” lineage and can be traced back to the founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba. Officially Aikikai style we consider our training not limited and independent of any one style. At Heaven & Earth we embrace all styles of Aikido and Aiki Jujutsu. Different styles are emphasized at different levels of training. Heaven & Earth trained Shodans are versatile and can fit into many different styles. Heaven & Earth Aikido belongs to two Aikido associations. The Nei Hu Aikido Association is an officially recognized sports association within Taiwan. Michael Ricca, head of Heaven & Earth Aikido is currently vise-president of this association. We also belong to the “Taiwan Aikido Federation”. For students who want their Dan ranking recognized internationally they have the option of testing with the Taiwan Aikido Federation. This associations links Heaven & Earth and our Dan ranked students to the Aikido Hombu dojo in Japan.
Aikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba, of Japan and is respectfully referred to as O’Sensei in the Aikido world. Aikido is unique in that it emphasizes using the opponents own force against them. Hence strength is not as essential in Aikido as it is in other Martial Arts, this makes it popular among both men and women as well as children. When Aikido is used correctly an aggressive situation can be resolved without doing harm. At Heaven & Earth - Aikido we teach serious Aikido within a friendly class environment.
